Due to continuous growth, we are delighted to be recruiting for a highly motivated and driven M&E Project Director to run multiple projects ranging up to £2M.
Working within an established business with an outstanding reputation across the South West, the role involves the planning and delivery of projects and installations from point of sale to completion with an emphasis on providing an excellent customer experience.
The projects are wide-ranging but are biased towards construction for the food industry, predominantly on the southwest peninsular. The work includes the construction and alteration of food manufacturing and storage areas, temperature and environmental control, M&E services, alarm and monitoring systems.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Director and have significant interaction with both customers, site-based installation teams and sub-contractors. The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to work within an established and skilled peer group.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the existing Board of Directors.
Daily management of the installation team including regular site visits.
Selection and allocation of staff with the appropriate skills.
Organisation of third-party contractors.
Continual management, review and update of the works planner to ensure accuracy and smooth operation of the department to ensure delivery of project margin.
Regular liaison with the client to agree on mutually agreeable installation dates and continual ongoing communication to create and maintain a ‘fully informed’ working relationship.
Review of pre-construction health and safety risks, management of RAMS and on-site activity.
Facilitate clean project handover from Design to Project management
Instruction to purchasing to ensure correct scheduling and delivery of parts.
Continual review of materials and labour to ensure maximised onsite productivity.
Ongoing monitoring of progress to meet the agreed deadlines.
Site visits to oversee the quality of workmanship and materials.
Liaison with the client and the engineering team to achieve an excellent result.
Management of snagging and customer handover to ensure a premium level of satisfaction.
Capture of variations to ensure they are correctly charged.
Analysis of quality issues and implementation of proactive improvements.
Awareness of material purchases, associated costs and wastage.
Identification and development of opportunities for improved financial performance.
Flexible response to customer needs, building relationships and commercial opportunities.
Skills and Abilities
Proven project delivery experience within a Mechanical / Electrical / HVAC / Refrigeration or Construction related industry.
Relevant industry qualification (or demonstrable experience)
Prince 2 or similar qualification is beneficial but not essential.
Excellent communication skills at all levels from interpretation to delivery.
Ability to communicate with clients at board level.
Previous experience managing and motivating remote teams (engineers).
Structured, organised and focussed on delivery
Computer literate with data entry, spreadsheets and interpretation of CAD drawings.
Ability to understand technical information
Sound knowledge of Health & Safety, leading by example
Confidence and ability to create and maintain a motivated team environment.
Expertise to develop a stable team by encouraging and training employees to achieve their potential.
Ability to work under pressure, plan ahead, prioritise and meet deadlines
Benefits
£50,000 to £60,000 subject to experience
Additional performance-based bonus scheme up to £15,000
