THE BRIEF

Our client was a high growth niche brand with a strong UK presence, growing via acquisition and requiring a CEO to take the reins from the owner/founders to accelerate the business still further. Both owner/founders were taking a step back from the business to pursue other projects and allow a highly credible CEO to drive the business to the next level.

THE PROCESS

King Executive was retained by the firm to source a highly entrepreneurial candidate with a proven track record in leading and transforming a business. The ideal candidate profile would be someone with strong leadership experience from a large E-commerce retail environment globally. The client required someone with high energy, high EQ & IQ together with expertise in a highly diverse cultural environment.

King Executive met with the Owner/Founders of the company as well as the private equity investment fund team to fully understand the company, culture, job brief and candidate competencies required.

Our internal research team defined a list of target companies within the retail sector that either matched or exceeded the size of the business. Through a combination of market mapping, headhunting, database mining and advertising, we conducted a detailed search of potential candidates in the market.

Following a preliminary screening of candidates via telephone, we further conducted detailed video conference or face-to-face behavioural and technical interviews with selected candidates to determine our final shortlist of candidates.

The King Executive Method, our bespoke 4-step leadership assessment programme was applied to the search to ensure rigour in our approach.

THE RESULT

Since joining the firm the CEO has increased turnover by 16% in the first year, accelerated the largest acquisition the firm has had since its inception, hired a Chief Digital Officer to improve their offering in the Asia and this year the business is on track to further extend it’s proposition in Australasia.

The campaign was viewed as a great success and the client has since engaged King Executive for the recruitment of other roles following this successful appointment.
